I
have recently taken the plunge and gone digital with my stage
gear and boy is it fantastic. I had struggled for ages trying
to get to grips with software based playback and found it all
very fiddly and complex. But now I have jet propelled myself into
the 21st Century with the unbelievably excellent Behringer BCD2000.
This gives instant access to thousands of tracks whilst retaining
the finesse of a deck-based system.

As
far as sound is concerned, I use a couple of different setups
- depending on the size of room / number of people in the audience.
For smaller venues I go with a 600W Mackie SRM450 system which has a nice
powerful smooth sound.

For
larger venues and more people (200 and over) I'd recommend a larger
setup with the addition of a couple RCF subs taking the total
power output to 2.4KW (2400W).

The
main thing to bear in mind is that whatever system is used, it
doesn't ever want to be cranked up to 100%. It is always a good
idea to have more power at your fingertips than you need, in order
to create a crisp / clear sound - rather than a lot of painful
distortion.
For
lighting I use two sets of 4 x PAR 56 lanterns with a smoke machine
(if required) to produce a real "club type" atmosphere. Added
to this I'll bring along a laser & strobe light!

rest assured that this all excellent quality gear which is regularly
maintained to keep it in tip-top condition, ready for your special
occasion.
